Free To Earn Games

Wax Blockchain

There are a lot of great games on the WAX blockchain, but one of the biggest complaints is that it’s too expensive to get into Play to Earn games, which keeps most people out of crypto games.  What if I told you that WAX has a lot of Free to Earn games?

Yes, you read that right.  NFTs games that you can plan earn crypto and NFTs for zero down…

Before we jump into this, let’s set your expectations on these Free to Earn options.  You can earn crypto and potentially NFTs to allow you to acquire more, but Free to Earn will not make you rich and will allow you to try the game and possibly build up over time.

Having said that, these are great options for beginners or even current players looking to jump into a new game.

Top Free To Play Games on WAX

Here (in no particular order) are the top free-to-play games on the WAX blockchain.  These games have both a free-to-play option and are really solid long-term games!

Metasource Castles – Royal Banquet Expansion

Game Link –

The Castles NFT recently (mid-august) released its free-to-play expansion called Royal Banquet.  This is a great option for those that are looking to start playing Metasource castles, but don’t have the WAX to buy the play to earn NFTs.

This expansion includes rewards every 8 hours, powerups for your squire, and awesome seasonal rewards that can be used for the main part of the game.  The seasonal rewards include Hero packs, for the upcoming dungeon expansion.  Also included are a number of NFTs that will help you build your kingdom, including lands, land packs, Barron and a castle.  They are great assets that will help you transition into the play-to-earn game!

Brigade – Taco Universe

Game Link –

Brigade is my top pick for Free to Earn games, and it’s the perfect entry point for new players to a great ecosystem.

Brigade is a basic click-to-earn game that is part of the Taco Universe.  It goes along with the overall taco/restaurant theme, where players earn SHING (game token) and potential NFTs.  As a Free to Earn player, you will click aka do your work every hour to help keep the restaurant running, and players also have the chance to win NFTs.

NFTs can be used to boost your overall SHING production and a chance at winning NFTs.

Here is a quick video that shows you the gameplay:

Game Link –

Immersys is a multiplayer 3d adventure game that currently focuses on gathering and crafting but just recently added the battle feature.  It reminds me of a very early NFT version of world of warcraft…  very early since the storyline is not available yet.  So if you like the grinding kind of game, you should look at this since it has a Free to Earn option.

Like the other games, the Free to Earn option is limited but gives you a feel for the game.  For Immersys, you need a tool (NFT) for most gathering options.  Except for gathering plants.  You can gather these plants without any NFTs. It gives you the chance to get hemp NFTs and a few basic blueprints.

Take these hemp plants and blueprints to craft different products that you can sell on the secondary market and build up your WAX to buy tools and build up your character.

Realm NFT

Game Link –

If you are looking for a resource management game with season events and competitions than Realm NFT might work for you.  Realm NFT offers a play-to-earn option that gives you two low-end leaders and a “worker” to help you get started.  The rewards are low with these free-to-play items, but it lets you test the game and get started.  Like all of the other free-to-play games, it’ll take time to build up your assets, but a great starting point.

Alien World

Game Link –

Alien world is the most established Free to Earn option; it’s been around for over a year and has a lot of players.  It also has many bots, which is one of the challenges with Free to Earn options.

It is a space-based mining game that allows you to mine different planets and terrains.  It’s also a click-to-earn game similar to Brigade, but without NFTs, you will click a lot more often.  NFTs boost production, the chance of NFTs, and the timeframe in between clicks.

Other Great Free-to-Play Games

The games listed above are not the only Free to Play games on WAX, here are some other games you may be interested in.

Game Link –

Tokenlands is a futuristic-style game where there are five continents that focus on producing different NFTs.  Players will need these five types of NFTs to produce different buildings (NFTs), including the “War Factory” used in future phases once the continents start battling.

The overall game is not Free to Earn, but they have one feature in the game where you can “Work” every eight hours to earn their in-game token.  With the in-game token, you can do the “Mining” activity to earn product NFTs.

Building up will be slow but a great option if you like this game style.

The Forge Arena

Game Link –

Are you a first-person shooter game?  If so, you’ll want to check out the Forge Arena.  It is a Halo-style arena first-person shooter game.  The matches are timed with the player with the most kills winning the overall match.  The more wins you get, the higher you rank on the leaderboard and the better the rewards.

You don’t need any NFTs to battle, and if you are good enough, you can win matches and earn their tokens so you can grab packs from their new store.

We will continue to update this list as we find more games that are Free to Earn.

Please note that some games initially have a Free to Earn option, but remove them without notice.  So I’ll try to keep this up to date and make adjustments if they remove the Free to Earn option.

These games used to be Free to Earn but have removed that option:

  • Mining Network (recently removed)
  • Dragon Valley
